The Diarrhea Diet is recommended to people who have diarrhea and want to stop it.

The Diarrhea Diet is based on eating a lot of food with fiber to stop the diarrhea, like:
wholemeal bread, brown rice, fruits with skin and vegetables.

Diet Menu: Diet Plan for Diarrhea

For the Diarrhea Diet, we suggest you to follow this diet plan:

Breakfast and snack:

Almond milk, infusion, coffee or tea.
Wholemeal bread and margarine.
Fruits: apple, pear, banana, etc. or natural fruit juices.


Broths and vegetable soups or meat, non-fat.
Pasta, potatoes (cooked or baked), rice.
Meat non-fat (veal, chicken, turkey, pork, lamb): cooked, baked or roasted. Not fried
Fish (whatever), not fried..
All vegetables.
Salad with lettuce, ruff, tomato.
Fruits: apple, pear, banana. Baked apples.
Wholemeal bread.


Oil (olive, sunflower, corn): 2 spoons per day.
Drinks: only water or natural fruit juices.
You can spice with salt, except if you have hypertension.

You can alternate the meals with similar food.

Suggestions to improve an Irritable Colon

Change your lunch habits. Follow a diet "poor in fat" and "rich in proteins" (meat and fish).
Eat slowly and try to chew carefully.
Avoid copious emals, they are preferable less abundant meals but more frequent.

Avoid food that you feel they worsen your symptoms. Food who increase more frequently diarrhea are: spices, alcohol, tonic, industrial soups, cocoa, milk, cheese, yogurt, industrial pastry, ice cream, butter...

Avoid drinks with gas and flatulent food like: cabbage, cauliflower, beans, chickpeas, lentils, onions, leeks, peas, nuts and food in conserve.

Try to have a fixed schedule for meals, and try to go to the restroom always at the same hour and without hurries, preferably after the breakfast.

Realize physical exercise, walk and swim.

The abdominal pain can get better applying local soft heat.

Avoid the use of laxatives.

Avoid, if possible, the situations that put you nervous or tense.
