“Stillman Diet”


Lose 6 lbs in 1 week eating proteins (no fat, no carbohydrates).

The Stillman Diet is a protein diet because the diet includes a lot of food with high proteins, few carbohydrates and no fat. Also it's considered to be a strict diet due to the lack of many nutrients.

The Stillman Diet was created in 1967 by Dr. Irwin Maxwell.

Weight loss: 6 lbs per week.
Calories: 1,000 calories per day.
Diet duration: 2 weeks (maximum). More times can provoke an increase of the levels of cholesterol and generate anxiety for the deficit of carbohydrates.

The Stillman Diet is easy to follow because you only have to remember not to eat fat nor carbs, and drink a lot of water ( 8-ounce glasses of water per day).




Diet plan for the Stillman Diet to lose 6 lbs in 7 days:

Breakfast:
2 scrambled eggs.
Fresh cheese.
Coffee or tea without sugar (saccharin admited).

Lunch:
Soup with and 2 whites of egg.
1/4 of roasted chicken with herbs as you like.

Dinner:
8 asparagus.
1 portion of tuna.
1 salad with lettuce.

How to cook food in the Stillman Diet

Meat and fish must be grilled, boiled or roasted, with non-fat and in the desired quantities. Eggs must be boiled in water. Infusions are allowed, and vegetables soup must be eaten without vegetables.

Keep in mind during the Stillman Diet

  • Suppress totally fat and carbohydrates.
  • Drink a lot of water, 8-ounce glasses of water per day (2 quarts, 1.8 liters), to remove the high levels of urea caused by the meat (protein degradation).
  • Protein must come from low-fat meat, white fish, seafood, eggs, fresh cheese, milk and skimmed yogurts.
  • Salt must be used with moderation. Sugar is forbidden.

Disadvantages of the Stillman Diet

Generally, in this kind of fast diet, the weight loss comes from the loss of fluids in the urine. Therefore, is not a real weight loss and is very easy to gain the lost pounds.
